Northern WE Day of Ceremony - Public Event

Delta Hotel, Winnipeg, ManitobaThe Northern WE in Tourism study is hosting a public gathering to celebrate milestones reached in the Northern WE project. Indigenous women entrepreneurs and their allies are invited to gather for an afternoon of sharing that includes a keynote address by the Honourable Minister Jeanie McLean, Minister of Education and Women’s Directorate, Yukon.
The gathering occurs between 2:00pm and 5:00pm CST. Opening at 2:00pm with a blessing and keynote address, the schedule includes informed discussion by an accomplished panel of Indigenous women entrepreneurs from Canada's northernmost communities. The panel will discuss the importance of Indigenous women entrepreneurs in tourism, their role in economic and destination development, and the role of regenerative and relational Indigenous tourism on the road to reconciliation.
Fiona Kirkpatrick Parsons, Senior National Advisor / kā-nīkānīt Deloitte Indigenous is the panel moderator. Fiona is a proud nehithaw-iskwew (Woodland Cree woman) with Scottish settler heritage and a member of Lac La Ronge First Nation, Treaty 6 Territory in northern Saskatchewan, now living in beautiful Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia), on the unceded, traditional territory of the Mi’kmaq will moderate our panel.
